Feather and Fan Fingerless Gloves
Size 6 - DPNS set of 5
Handspun yarn – approx. DK/Sport weight – or any yarn in a similar gauge.
Both Gloves:
CO 36 stitches, distribute over 4 needles (9 sts per needle) and join.
Needles 1 and 2 will (18 stitches) l be the back of the hand and needles 3 and 4 (18 stitches) will be the palm.
Knit the first two needles in feather and fan pattern as follows
Row 1: K
Row 2: K
Row 3: *K 2 tog 3 times, YO, K1 6 times, K 2 tog 3 times* repeat to border.
Row 4: K
For needles 3 and 4 knit in K2P1 rib
Knit 5 repeats of the feather and fan
Right glove:
Start thumb gusset. Continue in pattern across the first two needles.
3rd needle. M1, K1, M1, PM and continue in pattern across needles 3 and 4.
Make the gusset increase every 3rd row until there are 11 stitches in front of the gusset.
Continue in pattern to gusset stitches place 10 stitches on holders.
Continue feather and fan and ribbing in pattern until the mitts are the length desired and bind off loosely.
Thumb Put 10 stitches on 3 needles, join yarn and knit until desired length. Bind off loosely.
Left Glove:
Work as for the right glove. On the last row of the 5th repeat knit to one stitch from the end PM, M1,K1, M1. Continue the increases the same as for the right glove. When you have 11 stitches after the marker, Knit to the marker and remove it, P1 and place 10 stitches on a holder. Continue as for right hand.
Weave in ends.

hi,
i’ve started the mittens and i think there may be an error in the lace pattern directions. row three leaves me with thirteen stitches where–i’m assuming–i should still have eighteen. i just did a hat using this lace pattern and i’m going to cross check the pattern with yours to see if i can figure it out. you’ll probably see what i mean and figure it out first, though, so let me know if i was on the right track or spaced out!

hi!
actually, i just figured it out! you just need brackets around YO, K1, eg. [YO, K1] 6 times. glad i got that squared away. i’ll let you know how they turn out!
