I GOT MY LAPTOP BACK!!!

*cough* Let’s see if I can post more than I have been.

As you can see, the site has had a re-design. I got really tired of the old one. I can’t thank the wonderful Joy enough for doing the banner for me.  She’s really mult-talented. She did the banner over at the wishcrafts blog too.

I finished something!!

roza1.jpgroza2.jpg

Roza’s Socks from Spring IK. All Thing’s Heather yarn in the “Wicked” colorway. Size 1 dpns.  I finished these on our trip to Austin last weekend. The photo was taken in the car at a gas station in Waco.  I like these socks and the yarn… OH EM GEE.. too soft, and a lot of it too.

I had that much leftover. I think you could get some footies out of it. I’m going to give it to BikerChick and see what she can do with it.

Oh yeah..cakes…

carmencake.jpgmycake.jpg

We passed! We done graditated. You notice Carmen was so excited she wrote “Yay!” on the top of hers. We had to parade through the store ( Hobby Lobby) and show off our cakes at the end of the class and that wasn’t so fun, but I enjoyed the rest of the class.

A friend of mine and her husband just got custody of his teenage son, and she has to clean out her craft room to make him a bedroom, and that means that I’m getting a LOOOOM!

LOOM!!!!

It’s a 36″ 4 harness Harrisville loom. I pick it up on Wednesday. I’m so excited!

We have been working on the house and have pulled up a lot of carpet and laying down tile. I have 1/2 of the living room done now and this weekend we are going to pull up the rest and finish the tile. I’m getting rid of two computer desks and that’s where I’ll put the loom and my fiber stash and wheel. I’ll take some photos when I get it all done and straightened up.

Oh..and I think Fiona has a problem.

fionayarn.jpg

She’s addicted to STR yarn. (STR lightweight in Puck’s Mischief) I have since cast on with this yarn for the Charade socks.  Sorry, no photo yet, but I’m lovin the yarn and the pattern. There’s a knit-along over on Ravelry, so if you’re a member, go on and sign up. There’s also a Flickr group if you’re not on Ravelry yet.

More later…hopefully spinning and loom and other good news.

May, 20th

roza.jpgroza2.jpg

One completed Roza’s Sock ala Grumperina from IK. Now to make the other one. I think that won’t be a problem. Yarn is All Things Heather in the Wicked colorway.

Card weaving. I bought green linen to make a viking apron and I’m going to use this as trim and straps. I have about 3.5 yards.

More card weaving. I originally warped the loom with this when our SCA group did it’s demo at the beginning of May just so there would be something on my loom to demonstrate. I’ll probably use this as trim on one of The Liam’s tunics

ORCHID! I’ve always wanted an orchid and we were in Lowe’s the other day and this one was $15 so I treated myself.

Oh.. BikerChick finished a pair of socks…. go bug her to post about them (with photos of course).

Photos as promised….

monkeysox.jpg feets.jpgmonkeyclose.jpg

Monkey socks from Knitty. Tofutsies yarn (I forget the colorway). Size 0 Brittney DPNS.

stocking.jpgstockingon.jpg

One Gunnister Stocking. Do you know how hard it is to take a photo of your own right leg??

butterfly1.jpgbutterfly2.jpgbutterflycloseup.jpg

Butterfly wings shawl in progress. This is just before I started Chart 4. The first two photos are more true to the real color. I don’t know what happened to that last photo.

My SCA group had it’s local May Day celebration (The SCA’s Birthday is May 1) and demo yesterday and one of my friends brought out a loom for people to play on. It was a 4 harness loom on a stand, but I forget what kind. I messed around on it for a long time and it was what I thought. I. NEED. LOOM. I loved it. I don’t think I got a photo of what I completed while I was working, but if I find one I’ll post it.

So here is more stuff.  When I went to Gulf War over spring break, I took a class on bobbin lace. I had a blast and now I want to do more. Here are my two (very feeble) attempts at bobbin lace. Be Kind.

picture-156.jpg This is two patterns (whole cloth and I forget the other) done in pearle cotton. picture-157.jpg

This is a really bad pattern done with linen thread. I was getting tired by the time we got to this piece and then I ran out of time, so it’s not so great. The lady that taught the class has a website, Lacemaker and I hope she comes back to teach again next year. I can sure use A LOT more hands on instruction.

I did a bit of weaving while I was gone also.

picture-159.jpg Since I’ve been knitting stockings, I figured I needed garters too, so these are two garters (one for each leg). So far I’ve been tying them around my leg, but I think I want to find some small buckles and sew them on the end, maybe something like a watch buckle.

And finally, Wednesday my history class went on a field trip to Oakwood Cemetery in Tyler, Texas. We did tombstone rubbings and some investigation and we’ll summarize our findings next week when we meet again.

I took quite a few pictures, but here’s a couple of my favorites.

There’s a bunch more photos here for those that are curious.

In other news, BOTH of my computers (laptop and PC) are now dead so I’m only able to get online at my moms or at school so postings may be slow, and if I don’t get to check my email as much as I’d like. Hopefully things will be remedied before too long and I’ll be back in working order.
