November, 30th

With all the deadlines and things I’ve had going on with school, I’m not going to finish my projects for Lacevember and NaKniSweMo. I was to a point on the Flowing River Shawl where I could have finished, but I went out of town the weekend after thanksgiving and when I came home I found part of the shawl had come off the needles on one side and had ran down quite a few rows. i don’t think I can salvage it. Luckily I was on the border so I can rip back to where I bound off the center section and pick up the stitches and start over again. It’s no biggie, I just won’t get finished. I am making progress on the sweater though, just not enough to finish it today. I’ll probably get it finished over the Christmas holidays.

Congratulations to all of you who did finish your November projects!!

Well, I hoped to have a bunch of neat photos to post for you today, but I think my mom’s camera is haunted or something. All of the photos I took this weekend are PINK. Not just pink they are hot pink. FUCHSIA. I don’t know what’s up there. J sent me this photo though.

dancersThe Liam loved the dancers. He stood there and watched them for ages with his jaw dropped. I had other photos of the pipe major and the drum and pipe bands and the caber toss etc etc, but they are all funky.

I messed with this one a bit and managed to get most of the pink out of it, but I’m not being very successful with the others.

J also bought me a ring and a Luckenbooth charm which I’d love to post photos of for you all, but..alas I have only aformentioned haunted camera. The ring is a sterling silver (I can’t wear gold ..boo) ring with a trinity knot on either side of an oval faceted amethyst. The Luckenbooth charm came from www.heatherbraes.com, but they don’t have any photos up on their site yet.

We ate Scotch Eggs and haggis and other nummy stuff. I probably gained 10 lbs. We visited the Clan tents, though neither one of mine were represented this year. (I am a Graham on my dad’s side and a Balfour on my mother’s side).
Here’s my progress as of Thursday on the Raibert sweater for The Liam.

Can you tell that’s his initials on the hem? I think it will look better once it’s off the needles and blocked. I’ve knitted a bunch more since I took the photo, and I’ll take another photo as soon as I can figure out what’s wrong with this camera.

Happy Monday!

NaKniSweMo

I’m sure you all have seen it by now, but Shannon has come up with NaKniSweMo to go along with NaNoWriMo. I think it’s a cute idea, and I’m going to use this motivation to finish the Raibert sweater that I’m working on for The Liam. Consider it my “get off your ass and knit” motivation. We’ll see how well I do.

I failed miserably at the Knitting Olympics, but maybe this one will get me in gear.

In other news, it doesn’t look like I’ll make Kid ‘n Ewe this year. I really wanted to go, but I couldn’t get it to work in the schedule and make everyone happy. I AM going to make it one of these years.

Instead, this weekend will have me at 45th Annual Salado Clan Gathering and Highland Games. I’m going to try to borrow the camera so hopefully I’ll have interesting photos. I’m taking my knitting along and maybe I’ll get photos of me knitting in public along with the kilts.

Ya’ll have fun at Kid n Ewe for me!!
