A friend of mine heard my camera woes and gave me long term loan of a camera with option to buy. YAY!!

I really like it so I’ll probably keep it.

Here’s a shot of my ring. I’ll post more later. Just got home and I need to unpack and take a shower and stuff.

Status of the Flowing River Shawl. This is the first three charts and its the center portion. I have picked up the stitches along one side and have to pick up the other side to start the border. I love the yarn. Kae dyes good stuff. :)

I was blog surfing yesterday and found a neat knitalong called “Lacevember.” I decided to join since I’m working on the Flowing River shawl anyway and I figured it would be good motivation to actually finish something. They posed this question to the members of the knitalong:
What are your ideal lace making conditions?

My ideal lace making conditions would be sitting in a comfy recliner under a good lamp, with several good movies, lots of chocolate and plenty of Diet Coke (with lime of course). I love to knit while I watch movies. Also, documentaries on the history channel are good for knitting.

So since I frogged the whole Flowing River on Saturday and re-cast on again last night, I’m now on row 93. I’m in the 3rd chart (of 5) and it ends on row 116. I think that’s pretty good progress. I have (for the first time ever) put in lifelines at the end of each chart as I go so that if I mess up again at least I won’t have to frog the whole thing.

Well, back to my knitting (and packing for the weekend and homework, etc etc etc)

I didn’t go to Killeen this weekend. I didn’t like the idea of not going, but I really needed to do things around the house, and get things in order here. I miss J, but I’ll get to see him Wednesday evening. My SCA Group is hosting our yearly event (Three Kings - there’s a link to it on the group page) and he is coming up here Wednesday. So..I am getting ready for that too.

I need to make a new dress for the event, but I don’t even have my pattern cut out yet. *sigh* I have some pretty blue linen that I’m going to use and I bought some woven trim for it recently. This is the trim that I have. The linen is the color of the background in the trim. I plan on putting it around the hem and the hem of the sleeves. This will be the dress. I won’t be doing the belt or the underskirt. I’ll make a full underdress instead of a skirt and I have several belts already. Hopefully I can get this going tomorrow. Shouldn’t take too long at all once I get it cut out. I also have some black and gold linen (kingdom colors) that I’m going to make a parti-colored cotehardie from. Maybe that will be my over Christmas break project.

The shawl I mentioned in the last post is going to the frog pond. Something is wrong on the left side and I don’t know what. It will be easier to frog the whole thing and start over than to try and figure out what happened. It’s in time out for now, but I’ll probably frog that in the upcoming week. I am working on the second Lacy Scallops sock (finally! I finished the first one back in January) I’m one repeat away from starting the heel so maybe I’ll finish these soon too.

Well, I’m sitting here procrastinating and not cleaning my bedroom like I should, so I’d better get off my ass and get it done. It shouldn’t take that long. Boy do I need a maid.

I am working on this pattern and I’m really liking it. Kae handdyed the yarn that I’m using. I wish I had a picture of it, but my camera is broken and my mom’s camera batteries are dead. I’m really liking the pattern. It’s easy to follow and is coming together quickly. I started the shawl last Wednesday afternoon and I didn’t work on it at all over the weekend and I’m on row 97 already. zoom zoom
As I was working on this I got the idea to do a shawl for each element. Flowing River will be water and I thought Mountain Peaks might be nice for earth. I’m having a hard time finding patterns for Air and Fire. Anyone have any ideas for suitable patterns? Point me to patterns. They can be free or for purchase or even in books. I’m willing to entertain any ideas.
