Sorry it’s been a while since I’ve posted. I’ve been busy getting things together to get the daughter off to college and getting myself ready to start student teaching. I start monday *gulp* and she got all moved into her dorm on Friday.
I have a really funny story to tell about her trip to move into the dorm. She is going to school only about 45 miles away, but we decided due to the rising gas prices and the fact that she’ll need to work, that it would be easier for her to live in the dorm and work in that town instead of driving back and forth. This past Friday was Freshman move in day. I had to be in student teaching seminars the last half of the week and wasn’t able to actually help her move in. Friday morning though she was to follow me over to the school and she’d get herself moved into the dorm.
She got her pickup packed up Thursday night and we left here about 6:30 Friday morning. She followed me over and when we got there we stopped at McDonald’s for a bite to eat. One of the items she’d packed was a rubbermaid (or similar brand) 3 drawer storage unit. It was in the back end of the truck along with her mini fridge and other boxes of things she needed to live in a dorm. When we came out of the McDonald’s she noticed that the top drawer was gone from the storage unit. She had packed it in the truck with the drawers facing toward the tailgate instead of toward the front of the truck (or taping them shut) and the drawer had come out on the way to school. The funny part is? Guess what was in that drawer…..

ALL OF HER UNDERWEAR! We’ve been laughing and making jokes about her underwear being spread all over East Texas. At least we have a good sense of humor about it, but can you see the headline now :
20 CAR PILE UP CAUSED BY RAINING PANTIES!!
In other news, I’ve started a separate blog for my glass adventures. If you’re interested in reading that also, you can view it at HotGlass. I hope you enjoy it!
Hi there! Wow things are busy when you’re trying to get a kid off to college aren’t they? I barely have time to breathe.
I’ve been doing some knitting, but nothing finished and haven’t touched the loom.
What I have been doing, is playing with fire.
I watched a demo about 2 years ago that a friend did to teach lampwork bead making. Then about a year ago I got my own torch and kind of piddled with it for the past year. In the past few weeks I’ve been trying to get time at the torch at least once a day so that I can learn the technique and improve my bead making. Here are a few of the beads I’ve made in the past couple of weeks.
- Two Large hole beads
- Blue Transparent
- Sea Green
- A collection
- BEADS!
I am really enjoying working with glass and I am really hoping to improve!
