Yay! I’m actually posting (and knitting)
Wednesday, March 12th, 2008Remember that pretty Crown Mountain Farms yarn I made?? I started knitting with it on Monday night.
It decided it wanted to be socks. I finished this one last night after I took the photos and immediately cast on for sock #2! I turned the heel on that one earlier at knitting night. I’ll try to finish it tonight or tomorrow. We’re planning on trying to make it to the llama festival in Henderson on Saturday and I want to wear them then.
Also, Friday is 3-14 and I know several people who are planning on casting on a Pi shawl in honor of the date (and cuz we’re geeks.) I want to have the socks done before then too.
Please keep voting for Geebaloo! Last time I checked she was in 4th place.
Thanks for all everyone has done getting her this far. She is very grateful for all of your help and support.
Get out the vote!
Thursday, March 6th, 2008I don’t generally post about politics, because I think that politics and religion are things you don’t talk about in polite company.
And I’m not about to start now…
My lovely daughter, Geebaloo, is a senior in High School and participates in a group with her school that does fundraisers and other charity work. One of the things they do is swing/ballroom dances and their performances are fundraisers for groups in the area. They did a USO show style performance called Where Were You in ‘42 in February.
Now..they are doing a program of “Dancing with the Stars” Here’s a clip from the website:
Dancing With the StarsDancing with the Stars is a contest featuring area students dancing to the hits of the 40’s to raise funds for Where Were You in ‘42?, an intergenerational program benefiting the Heritage House Senior Citizen Center. Students are paired with a local “celebrity” and provided lessons in the ballroom dance of their choice. The event provides an evening of entertainment while helping to raise funds for the program.
The local newspaper has a page up about the program with videos and a blog from each of the dancers. The winner is chosen by popular vote and the voting is done on the website.
You can vote once an hour (or just once) by clicking HERE and voting for “Kerry Hill and Carmen Garza.” They are in the lead right now and we’d like to keep it that way. The performance is on March 29th. Watch the videos too, they’re highly entertaining!
I’m KnitSteph and I approve this message. (so does Geebaloo)
