Spinning:
I never posted that back at the end of April I got my spinning wheel back. The past week and a half or so I’ve been busy spinning away. Here are the fruits of my labors.
This is approx. 420 yards of yarn. I’m not sure of the weight, I’m guessing sport? Check the photo with the penny to give you a better idea. Kae gave me the fiber a while back and it’s some that she dyed herself. I’m not sure exactly what I want to make out of it.
This fiber was also sent to me by Kae. If I remember right it’s a silk/wool blend from The Silkwoker. I also have a bag of the all silk fiber in the matching colorway. Though not exactly the same, it looked similar to this before I spun it. Mine is black with yellow, pink, blue and purple throughout. I didn’t separate the colors and I like how it turned out. I don’t think that it shows up well in photos though. I have around 200 yards of this. I’m not sure what I’m going to do with this either, though I’m going to give spinning the silk a try and see if I can’t combine the two yarns in something.
I’m a Weiner!!
I won a contest the other day and the yarn arrived yesterday. Cheryl had a blog-iversary contest and asked for comments about what people thought made up a good blog. I left my comment and one day when I checked my email I found that I had won!! Lookie what she sent me.
That’s two skeins of Classic Elite Bravo. Approx. 48 yards per skein. Anyone have any idea what I can make from this? I love the yarn. It’s in some of my favorite colors. It suggests size 11 needles. I’m thinking a skinny scarf on big needles or something. Ideas would be appreciated.
New Knitting Project:
Last weekend I went to Rose Path to do a bit of shopping. I ended up coming home with a yarn swift, which I greatly needed and another skein of Silky Wool (I had only bought 3 and I needed 4). Something else that jumped into my hands was two skeins of Henry’s Attic superwash. I decided to cast on for Knitty’s I Do.
This is where I am on the first sleeve. I’m not so sure I’m liking it. What do you think? Should I frog or keep going for a bit and see what it starts looking like? I love the yarn, but I’m not sure its right for the pattern.
Trip to the Rodeo:
What’s a girl to do when she gets new boots? Go to the Rodeo of course. This past week was the 70th Annual Gladewater Round-Up Rodeo in Gladewater, TX. When I was growing up, my grandparent’s lived in Gladewater on the corner of Rodeo Drive and Gay Avenue. We used to go to the rodeo all the time. I guess this rock and roll chick is just a country girl at heart because I love to go to rodeos.
Apparently The Liam loves the rodeo too. He was disappointed that the pony was tethered and only went in a circle. He was also disappointed that we got there a bit too late to sign him up for the mutton busting. We told him we’d get there early next year and he’d be able to do it and I thought maybe I could see if people I know who have sheep would let him train a bit before hand. Might help give him an edge on the competition.
This just made me laugh.
It has rained here in East Texas almost every afternoon and last Saturday was no exception. This poor fellow happened to be thrown (he was a bareback rider I think) in the muddiest spot in the arena. He was totally covered head to foot in mud.
That’s all the photos that I’ve edited for uploading on the blog, but if you’re interested, there are more here. Some of them are blurry and I’ve not rotated them yet. I’m not so hot with the action photos yet. I also have a few videos that I’ll upload. I’ll be sure to post a link when I get them uploaded.
Saturday Sky:
Well..actually Friday evening sky. As I mentioned above, we’ve been having thunderstorms just about every afternoon. Last Friday a front rolled through and we had some nice storms. Well, the storms stopped, but the front stalled out basically right above the house. This was taken about 8 pm from my driveway looking north west. I had a horrible headache until about 2 am when the front finally rolled away. I thought the picture was pretty.
Wow! That was one big post. I got a little wordy there didn’t I?
Next time, I’ll inform the blogiverse about our adventures at Wilton Cake decorating class. (The Girl Child and I) I think we’re comic relief for the rest of the class.

Wow…that sky is awesome! I miss that so much…
Ummmm, that clown’s pats, what’s up with that? Was that a man or a woman? Weird butt shape there.
And, as usual, The Liam is super cute in his cowboy get up!
