roza.jpgroza2.jpg

One completed Roza’s Sock ala Grumperina from IK. Now to make the other one. I think that won’t be a problem. Yarn is All Things Heather in the Wicked colorway.

Card weaving. I bought green linen to make a viking apron and I’m going to use this as trim and straps. I have about 3.5 yards.

More card weaving. I originally warped the loom with this when our SCA group did it’s demo at the beginning of May just so there would be something on my loom to demonstrate. I’ll probably use this as trim on one of The Liam’s tunics

ORCHID! I’ve always wanted an orchid and we were in Lowe’s the other day and this one was $15 so I treated myself.

Oh.. BikerChick finished a pair of socks…. go bug her to post about them (with photos of course).

Lots of reading, ipodding and knitting, though it seems it means no photo taking. I’ll have to remedy that this weekend.

It’s strange how that works. I have no computer so I get more done…hmmm.

I’ve been reading quite a lot lately and I decided to start keeping a list of what I’m reading. My 2007 list is here.  I’m only listing things that I’ve finished (not things in progress…oh gods would that be a long list.)  I’ve got some short print fiction from Apex Digest to add to the list, but I didn’t have my magazine in front of me when I was making the list. I think there may be more books too, but I’m having brain farts about what I’ve read and when I read it.  I’ll add those later.  I’ve also decided to list audio books as well as books in print. Hey..they’re books right??

So..in that vein, I’d like to mention a podcast that I’ve found and I’m really enjoying.

Pseudopod is a really nice horror fictio podcast. Everything I’ve listened to so far has been short stories. It’s a good short listen when you only have a short drive..or a short wait somewhere and you don’t have time to get all involved in a long drawn out novel. (I know I hate pausing my audiobook when I’ve gotten to a really good part.) If you like scary stories…give Pseudopod a try, you might like it.

Some knittin’ goin on up in here

butterfly1.jpgbutterfly2.jpgbutterflycloseup.jpg

Butterfly wings shawl in progress. This is just before I started Chart 4. The first two photos are more true to the real color. I don’t know what happened to that last photo.

My SCA group had it’s local May Day celebration (The SCA’s Birthday is May 1) and demo yesterday and one of my friends brought out a loom for people to play on. It was a 4 harness loom on a stand, but I forget what kind. I messed around on it for a long time and it was what I thought. I. NEED. LOOM. I loved it. I don’t think I got a photo of what I completed while I was working, but if I find one I’ll post it.

so…um…..yeah

This here blog thing. I should write on it, yes?

Thanks everyone for the compliments on the shawl. I’m very proud of it..amazed even that I  completed something like that. I have it hanging on a bookshelf in my bedroom and I stare at it every time I walk by it.

In lieu of photos (camera batteries are dead) I’ll update on my knitting progress.

Butterfly Wings shawl progress – I’m just about to start chart 4 (which begins with row 103!!) I’m making good progress and haven’t had to frog anything at all. Now…since I’ve said that, watch..I’ll have to frog the whole damn thing.

Stockings progress – I have completed one of the white cotton stockings and started the second one.

Monkey sock progress – one sock completed and I’m 5 repeats into the second one. Moving right along.

Tempting progress – I’m 12 or so inches into the body. This is my “BikerChick’s House Knitting.” I keep it at her house and only knit on it when I’m over there. I think it helps me to keep from getting bored with all that K2P2.

New Project – Bridal Purse from A Gathering of Lace with the leftover yarn from the Flowing River Shawl (an example here)

The kids and I went to the Rodeo recently. I got alot of cute photos of the kids and the animals.

I LOVE this photo..he looks like he’s got dreadlocks!dreadlock sheep

picture-040.jpg Watching something pretty intently aren’t they?

picture-065.jpg  yes…you’re seeing that right. The woman and all those horses are on TOP of the horse trailer. That was a very fun act to watch.

I hope to get some camera batteries soon, and I’ll post progress photos of the above projects, but this week is the last week before finals ..and next week is finals AND…someone special is moving in with me this week. ;)   I may be quiet for a few days.  I’ll be back though.
