Not going to finish…

Thursday, November 30th, 2006

With all the deadlines and things I’ve had going on with school, I’m not going to finish my projects for Lacevember and NaKniSweMo. I was to a point on the Flowing River Shawl where I could have finished, but I went out of town the weekend after thanksgiving and when I came home I found part of the shawl had come off the needles on one side and had ran down quite a few rows. i don’t think I can salvage it. Luckily I was on the border so I can rip back to where I bound off the center section and pick up the stitches and start over again. It’s no biggie, I just won’t get finished. I am making progress on the sweater though, just not enough to finish it today. I’ll probably get it finished over the Christmas holidays.

Congratulations to all of you who did finish your November projects!!

Saturday Sky on Sunday

Sunday, November 26th, 2006

I have seen other bloggers who were doing the Saturday Sky thing. I hadn’t thought about doing it until I had this view Saturday afternoon.

Salado Sky

(please click to get the full size version)

This is on a country road near the Monteith (I think?) Ranch between Salado and Killeen, Tx. The town in the distance is either Harker Heights or Killeen.

I am Thankful for..

My kids:

Even though they sometimes try my patience and cause me to pull my hair out. I love the little shits. We got word a day or so ago that a friend had lost his daughter in a car wreck. So tragic and it made me have cause to hug my kids a little closer and be thankful that they are happy and healthy.
I’m also thankful that i have a man who loves me, even if he’s 250 miles away and I can only see him on the weekends right now. He wasn’t able to spend Thanksgiving with us, because his job is the suxxors and he has to work today. It was too far to come to just go back last night. The kids and I are headed down there in a few hours to spend the weekend with him for a late Thanksgiving. We’ll be getting there right about the time he gets off work.

(yes..I should have posted this yesterday, but I was too busy eating

Weaving Wednesday

Wednesday, November 22nd, 2006

I spent a little time today working on a Card Weaving project.

This pattern is from Candace Crockett’s Book “Card Weaving.” In the book it has no name, but is called “pattern draft #5.”

I think that it kind of resembles rows of Thor’s Hammers. I’m liking the design. It is a 22 card design (4 threads per card so 88 threads) and I’m using #10 crochet cotton. I’m hoping to maybe use this for trim on something if I have enough.

I think I wove about 5 feet in about an hour this afternoon. Not too shabby I think.

Yay Cameras!!

Sunday, November 19th, 2006

A friend of mine heard my camera woes and gave me long term loan of a camera with option to buy. YAY!!

I really like it so I’ll probably keep it.

ring

Here’s a shot of my ring. I’ll post more later. Just got home and I need to unpack and take a shower and stuff.

Status of the Flowing River Shawl. This is the first three charts and its the center portion. I have picked up the stitches along one side and have to pick up the other side to start the border. I love the yarn. Kae dyes good stuff. :)

Lacevember

Wednesday, November 15th, 2006

I was blog surfing yesterday and found a neat knitalong called “Lacevember.” I decided to join since I’m working on the Flowing River shawl anyway and I figured it would be good motivation to actually finish something. They posed this question to the members of the knitalong:
What are your ideal lace making conditions?

My ideal lace making conditions would be sitting in a comfy recliner under a good lamp, with several good movies, lots of chocolate and plenty of Diet Coke (with lime of course). I love to knit while I watch movies. Also, documentaries on the history channel are good for knitting.

So since I frogged the whole Flowing River on Saturday and re-cast on again last night, I’m now on row 93. I’m in the 3rd chart (of 5) and it ends on row 116. I think that’s pretty good progress. I have (for the first time ever) put in lifelines at the end of each chart as I go so that if I mess up again at least I won’t have to frog the whole thing.

Well, back to my knitting (and packing for the weekend and homework, etc etc etc)
