Hey look..me posting on a Saturday

Saturday, October 28th, 2006

I didn’t go to Killeen this weekend. I didn’t like the idea of not going, but I really needed to do things around the house, and get things in order here. I miss J, but I’ll get to see him Wednesday evening. My SCA Group is hosting our yearly event (Three Kings – there’s a link to it on the group page) and he is coming up here Wednesday. So..I am getting ready for that too.

I need to make a new dress for the event, but I don’t even have my pattern cut out yet. *sigh* I have some pretty blue linen that I’m going to use and I bought some woven trim for it recently. This is the trim that I have. The linen is the color of the background in the trim. I plan on putting it around the hem and the hem of the sleeves. This will be the dress. I won’t be doing the belt or the underskirt. I’ll make a full underdress instead of a skirt and I have several belts already. Hopefully I can get this going tomorrow. Shouldn’t take too long at all once I get it cut out. I also have some black and gold linen (kingdom colors) that I’m going to make a parti-colored cotehardie from. Maybe that will be my over Christmas break project.

The shawl I mentioned in the last post is going to the frog pond. Something is wrong on the left side and I don’t know what. It will be easier to frog the whole thing and start over than to try and figure out what happened. It’s in time out for now, but I’ll probably frog that in the upcoming week. I am working on the second Lacy Scallops sock (finally! I finished the first one back in January) I’m one repeat away from starting the heel so maybe I’ll finish these soon too.

Well, I’m sitting here procrastinating and not cleaning my bedroom like I should, so I’d better get off my ass and get it done. It shouldn’t take that long. Boy do I need a maid.

Shawl Ideas

Monday, October 23rd, 2006

I am working on this pattern and I’m really liking it. Kae handdyed the yarn that I’m using. I wish I had a picture of it, but my camera is broken and my mom’s camera batteries are dead. I’m really liking the pattern. It’s easy to follow and is coming together quickly. I started the shawl last Wednesday afternoon and I didn’t work on it at all over the weekend and I’m on row 97 already. zoom zoom
As I was working on this I got the idea to do a shawl for each element. Flowing River will be water and I thought Mountain Peaks might be nice for earth. I’m having a hard time finding patterns for Air and Fire. Anyone have any ideas for suitable patterns? Point me to patterns. They can be free or for purchase or even in books. I’m willing to entertain any ideas.

Something new

I have added a new sidebar item. Since I run the Texas Knitters Webring, I decided that I’d link to all the Texas Knitters that I could find.

Look on the left side it should say “Knittin’ in the Lone Star State” The blogs/websites are listed alphabetically. (I actually have about 20 more to add as I type this)
I went through the ring and added current webring members. If you aren’t on the list, let me know and please consider joining the webring. If you know of any other knitters not on the list or the ring, send them my way and we’ll get them added.

Boys love Fishing

Thursday, October 12th, 2006

Last weekend when I went to see J in Killeen, I took the boys with me again. This time on Saturday morning we drove down to Lampasas and took them fishing.

We went to Hancock Springs. Oh boy is it ever pretty there. I was going to take all kinds of photos there but I managed to get only two before the camera batteries died. DAMMIT!! Hopefully we’ll go back again sometime and I’ll make sure I have good batteries.

Anyway, here are the two photos I did get.

Topher Fishing This is The Topher with one of the little fish he caught that afternoon.

Liam Fishing And this is The Liam fishing below the spillway. (See I told you it was pretty there)

In other news, I am knitting a couple of things and hopefully I’ll have an FO to post here next week sometime. I’m headed back down to Killeen tomorrow and then the next weekend is a fairly large SCA Event in San Antonio. Busy busy me.

Oh..and by the way. I have been cast as the evil stepmother in cinderella in my Children’s Theatre class. SO. NOT. FUNNY.

Busy Busy Busy

I barely have time to think these days. I’m doing so much I can hardly keep up.

I finally got the pics uploaded from the trip to Salado with the boys.

I haven’t had time to resize the photo so I can put them here, but you can view them in the photo album HERE. (the first two photos are elk that we saw on the way)
I also got the photos uploaded from last weekend’s Crown Tournament. It was a very hot day, but we had a blast. Check them out HERE.

This post is going to be a short one because I have a bunch of homework to do and a test tomorrow. I’m also trying to get clothes washed and packed for heading out of town again tomorrow.

Like I said…busy busy busy.
