School is being a major time drainer lately and really kicking my a$$. I’m doing 15 hours this semester and it seems that all of my professors are under the mistaken impression that I am ONLY in their class and that I don’t have a life outside the classroom. *grumble* I’ve been reading so much my eyes are about to fall out.
Anyway, on to more pleasant topics as I’m sure you all do NOT want to hear me whine and complain about school. On the good news front, I am no longer single. NO….I’m not married……yet. LOL I met some one a while ago and things are progressing nicely and I am very happy. The only downside? He lives about 250 miles away. *grrr* He is in the SCA also though and we do events together and are making the efforts to see each other outside of the events also. I’ll be going to his place this weekend for my birthday. Apparently he has some kind of big surprises planned and he won’t tell me what’s up with that. I am SOOOOO not good with surprises. I’ll be patient though, it’s only another couple of days.
Knitting?…not so much. I have had my nose in the books too much so nothing has been completed. A couple of things have been started, and ripped or left alone, but nothing at all completed.
I thought I’d share with you guys a bit of my obsession.
This is my fireplace in my living room. It’s where I keep my wheels and other fibery type objects.
Hey Verna! Look what I got. *giggle* I found this loom on ebay for $25. I know I need a shuttle and the heddles need to be replaced but otherwise it’s in very good shape. I figured this would get me going and I’d learn the mechanics of how a loom works before I try out a big one. (That is if I ever get room for a big one)
These are my two inkle looms set up for card weaving. I have removed the heddle bar on the larger one so that I can have a larger area to weave before I rotate the warp. The heddle bar isn’t removable on the smaller loom.
So there’s a bit of my fiber obsession. (Notice theres only one small basket of fiber there….90% of my fiber is out in the garage.)

Whoo Hoo! On both the loom and the man.
So, spill on the loom - it looks to be 2 harness? About….16″ weaving width? Heddles are cheap, so are shuttles - you can get by with a stick shuttle (like your inkle shuttles) for now.
You might want to pick up some more reeds, too - they’re not that expensive, and that way you can use more yarns (well, OK - you can use any size yarn in any reed, but you have to put more than 1 in each dent. I have…..5 reeds for my Glimakra, and am looking into getting a couple more. Less math is *good*)
Oh, and 250 miles isn’t too bad. I hope your relationship moves along like mine did! *g*
