Did anyone else hear this?

I listen to NPR every morning on my 45 minute commute to school. They had an interesting story about Tracey Ullman this morning.

I thought it was interesting.

Poetry in stitches

Tuesday, September 26th, 2006

I wrote this poem for my Reading/Writing in Middle School class.

Wrapped In Love

Five tiny wooden sticks

Come together in a round

With softly spun wool

And loving hands

Making tiny loving stitches.

Patiently stitching around and around.

Until finally

A wonderful creation.

Warm, soft, comfortable socks

Are like having your feet

Wrapped in love.

Yes…I am a dork.

My Birthday weekend.

Thursday, September 21st, 2006

I just realized that I hadn’t posted about my birthday weekend. I left school abut 1:30 p.m. after Children’s Theatre class and headed south west. I arrived in Killeen at about 4:30 and met J at his office. We went to Chilis and had a bite to eat since I had neglected to eat lunch (oops) and a couple of yummy drinks. (you MUST try the Chambord 1800 Margarita) Then he showed me around the area a bit. It’s very different from my North East Texas area. The trees are soooo small. LOL It is a very pretty area though.

We watched the sun set Friday over a lake outside of town and then went to a friends for dinner.

Saturday morning we got up early and went to Salado.  We went to breakfast at the Stagecoach Inn Coffee shop and then wandered around looking in all the shops. We drove up in the hills behind the town and looked at the amazing houses. I could SOOO live there. LOL He bought me a stuffed frog. We visted Sirena.

I had a wonderful weekend and I’ve had a permanent grin since I got home. I am going back there this weekend and taking the boys with me. This time I’m going to remember to take some photos.

So, how many of you are in the Killeen area?? It looks like I may be moving down there when school is out for the summer. It would be fun to have knitters to hang out with.

Saving this for later

I’m alive….really I am!!

School is being a major time drainer lately and really kicking my a$$. I’m doing 15 hours this semester and it seems that all of my professors are under the mistaken impression that I am ONLY in their class and that I don’t have a life outside the classroom. *grumble* I’ve been reading so much my eyes are about to fall out.

Anyway, on to more pleasant topics as I’m sure you all do NOT want to hear me whine and complain about school. On the good news front, I am no longer single. NO….I’m not married……yet. LOL I met some one a while ago and things are progressing nicely and I am very happy. The only downside? He lives about 250 miles away. *grrr*  He is in the SCA also though and we do events together and are making the efforts to see each other outside of the events also. I’ll be going to his place this weekend for my birthday. Apparently he has some kind of big surprises planned and he won’t tell me what’s up with that. I am SOOOOO not good with surprises. I’ll be patient though, it’s only another couple of days.

Knitting?…not so much. I have had my nose in the books too much so nothing has been completed. A couple of things have been started, and ripped or left alone, but nothing at all completed.

I thought I’d share with you guys a bit of my obsession.

tools

This is my fireplace in my living room. It’s where I keep my wheels and other fibery type objects.

loom

Hey Verna! Look what I got. *giggle* I found this loom on ebay for $25. I know I need a shuttle and the heddles need to be replaced but otherwise it’s in very good shape. I figured this would get me going and I’d learn the mechanics of how a loom works before I try out a big one. (That is if I ever get room for a big one)

inkle looms

These are my two inkle looms set up for card weaving.  I have removed the heddle bar on the larger one so that I can have a larger area to weave before I rotate the warp. The heddle bar isn’t removable on the smaller loom.

So there’s a bit of my fiber obsession. (Notice theres only one small basket of fiber there….90% of my fiber is out in the garage.)
