Sorry for the lack of bloggage lately. Kids started school and I start back next Wednesday so things have been a tad bit hectic around here. Hopefully I’ll resume regular posting soon.

Oh and if you’re interested, I am listing all my old quilting fabrics and stuff on Ebay to make room for yarn and SCA fabrics. I only have a couple of auctions listed now, but should have more up soon. My Ebay user name is Mariora.

I participate in MyPoints and every so often I rack up enough points to redeem them for something on the site. Normally I wait til I get enough points and I get a $25 Gift Certificate to Barnes and Noble. I got mine last week (this is the third one I’ve gotten since I’ve been doing MyPoints) and I ordered two books.

books

They came yesterday and I really like them. The first book is Beginner’s Guide to Braiding by Jacqui Carey and it tells about the ancient art of Kumihimo Braids. The second one is the Spin Off Socks book. (love it too)

I have been working on a kumihimo braid off and on for a few week and I finished one this afternoon.

braid1

This is a red, yellow, green and white cord in a spiral round braid. I just started another one with silk thread that is blue and red and is a flat braid that kind of has a chevron pattern to it. It should be quite a bit shorter and I’ll post a photo of it when I’m finished. I don’t own a wooden Marudai YET…LOL I have what is called a Kumihimo Disk. I really like it and it’s a lot more portable.
