Tank Ideas…

July 30th, 2006 · 3 Comments

I have the urge to knit a cotton tank top. I’ve been surfing ideas this afternoon and finding lots of pretty things. Thing is…I’m 5′ tall and I wear a 36DD bra and I’m not skinny. It’s just so FREAKING HOT and I’ve decided I don’t care about the being fat part, I want a cute cotton tank. (I made soleil and it looks bad on me, plus I’ve lost 30 lbs since I made it and it doesn’t fit anymore.) Here are a few patterns I ran across in my search.

Calla

Inca Cotton Tank

Prosperous Plum Tank (pdf file)

Sizzle

Chevron Rib Tank

A Drops pattern

Feather and Fan top

DNA Sweater Shell

Chickami

Mondo Cable Shell

Ribby Shell

Bamboo Ballerina Tank Top

Tulip

Back In Black

Ballet Camisole

Lux (though this one might be too small)

Emily

Rib and Cable Top

Arctic Circle

Eliza

Enchanted

Shapely Tank Top

Bevin

Aran Weight Lace Shell

Pretty In Pink Tank

Thats all I have for now. Anyone else have any good ideas?

I vote for Shapely, Ballet or Chickami. I have no tank patterns to suggest–I didn’t even know there were so freakin’ many!

Have you seen the book Big Girl Knits by Jillian Monroe and Amy Singer? I just found a copy at my local library-I love it-and there’s a neat tank top pattern that uses Svale yarn from Dale of Norway.

I liked it because it looked nice and roomy. Good luck finding a pattern you like!
    I love your blog!

I have no ideas, but I’ve always wanted to knit something like a tshirt or short sleeve sweater. So, er, you do one and I’ll feel motivated, maybe!

Or I’ll just make more socks…
