July, 30th

I have the urge to knit a cotton tank top. I’ve been surfing ideas this afternoon and finding lots of pretty things. Thing is…I’m 5′ tall and I wear a 36DD bra and I’m not skinny. It’s just so FREAKING HOT and I’ve decided I don’t care about the being fat part, I want a cute cotton tank. (I made soleil and it looks bad on me, plus I’ve lost 30 lbs since I made it and it doesn’t fit anymore.) Here are a few patterns I ran across in my search.

Calla

Inca Cotton Tank

Prosperous Plum Tank (pdf file)

Sizzle

Chevron Rib Tank

A Drops pattern

Feather and Fan top

DNA Sweater Shell

Pretty In Pink Tank

Thats all I have for now. Anyone else have any good ideas?

I finished the sweater (except for the ties) on Wednesday.
I also went and bought a skirt pattern and two different fabrics to make skirts to wear with it. I got a pretty blue and a really nice purple. I couldn’t decide which one would look better and since the skirt only takes like 1 3/4 yards to make it was just easier to buy enough for the two and make two. Plus..then I’ll have two new skirts.

I can’t decide what to work on next. *sigh* I think I’m getting Knitting ADD again. I keep starting stuff and frogging it. I wish I could buy some more yarns. That might inspire me.

I’m feeling really old lately. My lovely daughter turns 16 on the 6th of August. This time 16 years ago I was miserably sick and wishing she’d come already and here after a blink of an eye..she’s 16. Time really does fly. She is a wonderful child (save for the occasional teenage angst/outburst/attitude) and I hope she knows how very proud I am of her.

Happy weekend everyone!

July, 23rd

Wow…It’s been a while since I posted. I’ve gotten quite a bit done on the shrug. Actually I had most of it done by last Monday. Monday was The Topher’s tonsilectomy. I started the sleeves while waiting with him in the waiting room, but didn’t do much while he was in surgery or after and haven’t picked it up again til today. Here’s a few shots of what I had done before today.

(click for larger images) I think the camera washed out the color a bit. They are a bit brighter. When I finish I’ll try to get a photo outside to get a truer color.  It’s been a fun knit, and the pattern is well written and easy to follow. I did lengthen the shrug by one repeat of the second pattern to make it a bit longer. (I’m *ehem* rather large chested and I figured It would work better if it was a *bit* longer…LOL)

The Topher is doing well after his surgery, until this morning. He’s now complaining of an earache. We’ll be seeing his ENT Dr. tomorrow so we’ll see what’s up with that. I can’t believe that its almost time for school to start. The kids here start on the 10th and I go back on the 23rd. I get to go on the first and register The Liam for Pre-K. I can’t believe he’s growing so fast.  *sniffle*

Well..off to see if I can’t get the sleeves finished and see if I have enough yarn to seam and do the crochet edging. (I have a ball on hold at the LYS just in case I don’t)

I went to my LYS today looking for some cotton yarn to do some card weaving with. I was there visiting with the ladies and looking at yarn and I saw the cutest sweater on one of their dress forms. They had this pattern from NY Yarns made up and on display. Instead of using the tropical silk yarn that the pattern calls for they used Katia Arc en Ciel for theirs.  arcgreen This is the color the shop used for theirs. I really liked it but they didn’t have enough of the yarn to make the sweater out of the greens, so I ended up coming home with three balls of this arcmine

I’m really liking it so far. I’m a bit more than 1/2 way through the first repeat on the back and its going very smoothly. Maybe I’ll actually finish something!!
