Bet everyone thought I fell off the face of the earth. I had a great time at war, but coming back has been sheer hell. I have had trouble focusing and it took all that I had to focus on school and get through the semester. Finals are next week so I can start to breathe again.

Not much knitting going on around here. I did purchase and inkle loom though and I’ve been doing a bit of weaving on and off.

I’ve finished a couple of more projects since I took those photos, but I don’t have photos yet.

I also got a new drop spindle at War. clayspindle2clayspindle

The whorl is clay, and I’m not sure what the shaft is, but it spins like a dream and I really am enjoying it. I also got the fiber you see on it at war. It’s a lovely white alpaca/silk blend that is a dream to spin.

Llama fiber My most recent acquisition. This is llama fiber from some local llama ranchers. This is about 1/2 of what I’ll have once they get the rest of it to me. So far I’ve found black, white, grey and a reddish brown colored fiber in those bags. Once school is done I’m going to pick and sort and clean the fiber and then figure out what to do with it. I’ve been talking to Kae about maybe dyeing some of the white stuff to see what pretty colors we can come up with.

*snerk* Welcome to the Dark Side! We have looms and shuttles and bobbins……

You do know this how the weaving obsession usually starts, yes? Inkle looms are shock troops of the weaving army. Next, you’ll decide to use some handspun on it, then you’ll realize that hey - that wool/silk/alpaca/luxury fiber you’ve spun would make an AWESOME woven shawl/blouse/skirt…which leads to the acquisiton of a RH loom, a table loom, or - gasp - a floor loom, which is where you’re headed anyway. *g* Don’t try to fight it…you Will be assimilated! *bg*

Congrats, and welcome to the wonderful world of weaving!
