We are fine and there’s no damage at my house
Sunday, September 25th, 2005We weathered the storm very well. We only lost power for about 2 1/2 hours yesterday afternoon, though some parts of town might still be without power. Right now its a bright sunny day and the expected high is 90 deg F. We did get a LOT of rain, but we needed it since we were 11 inches below the normal rainfall for this time of year.
It feels like we really dodged a bullet. I know the damage is a bunch worse south of here and over in Lake Charles and Abbeville, Louisiana. I’m very thankful, but my heart goes out to those that have lost things because of Rita and Katrina.
Just think…we have 6 more weeks of hurricane season left.
While the power was out, I spent a little time at my wheel. I’m spinning up some blue fiber that Kae sent me a while back. She sent me a whole pound of the fiber and I think I’m going to name the yarn Rita. If I get enough I’m thinking of making the Irish Diamond Shawl from Folk Shawls. (Oo..Look Wendy made one too. Irish Diamond)
I think it would look really nice in blue. We’ll see what happens when I get this yarn all spun up and the twist set and how much I have. The pattern calls for 2200 yards of fingering weight. *fingers crossed*
