We have a new member of the family now.

Everyone say hello to Donnatello.
I was bored on Monday (who me bored??) and I decided to knit a buttonhole bag. I had this yarn that I had spun and just could not figure out what to make from it. (you’ll understand once you see the colors) I think the bag turned out cute.
Here it is pre-felted:

And after two trips through the washer…

The fiber was a Romney/Mohair blend and it’s extremely fuzzy. I think I’m going to give it a hair cut. I was toying with the idea of making some felted leaves to put on it from some autumn colored yarn that I spun. Just have to knit the squares and felt them and then cut out the leaves. We’ll see if I ever get it done. Maybe I can needle felt it or someting. Angela can I borrow your felting needles??? LOL
I also knit a swatch from the grey yarn that I spun out of the raw fleece I bought.

I did it on size 6 needles and washed and blocked it. I haven’t measured it or figured the gauge yet.
Remember my last post lamenting the amount of projects I have on the needles??? Well…I now have one more. The daughter announced that she has a swim team banquet in three weeks and its semi-formal. The dress she wants to wear is strapless so I’m working up a stole for her to wear with her dress. No photos yet, sorry. Yep..one more project on the needles. (but I did finish something…the bag counts right??)

I think the colors of your buttonhole bag are beautiful. Very Spring/Summer like indeed! I once tried spinning with a drop spindle and it didn’t really work out for me. I think a wheel might be better(I’m coordination-challenged, so to speak; I’m a terrible dancer!) for me. Welcome Little Donatello. He’s adorable!

Muuhahahaha!!! You have sucumbed to the coolness that is being a herp owner. I have a land turtle myself and I just love her to death. She’s 19 years old this year too.
P.S.
It turns out that you could have come to the womens retreat last weekend and just paid at the door. But I don’t know how that would have worked out with The Liam and all. Maybe next year ~smile~.
